Angel Food Ministry..

Kern Methodist Church just started this ministry and I thought it was so cool! I don't know if it's being done anywhere else beside Georgia and Tn.. I think this is real cool thing for anyone especially with that amount of money.. This article was from Oak Ridger..

Kern United Methodist provides grocery relief

Kern United Methodist Church, 451 E. Tennessee Ave., has partnered with Angel Food Ministries to provide grocery relief to Oak Ridge and surrounding communities. Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States.

Angel Food works through churches and community organizations in over 20 states. The program began with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia, in 1994, and has grown to serve thousands of families every month. Angel Food Ministries crosses denominational lines and has spread the good news of the Gospel of Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each food order.

Angel Food's groceries are sold in a quantity that can fit into a medium
sized box at $25 per unit. Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $50. Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for a month. The food is all the same quality one would purchase at a grocery store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no-day-old breads, and no produce that almost too ripe.

A sample menu includes one package of chicken nuggets, four 8-ounce
hamburger steaks, four 6-ounce pork chops, 1.5 pounds of bacon, a dozen eggs, a two-pound bag of French fries, bagels, onions, bananas, apples, and a pie. Also, offered are specialty boxes such as steaks, chicken and pork. Angel Food Ministries, like most all other retail grocery stores, also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program. Anyone is eligible to purchase food irregardless of income.

Food sales and distribution will be handled by Kern United Methodist
Church. Orders and payments would be collected during the first part of each month. These orders will then be turned into the Angel Food main office. Several days later the food will be delivered to Kern.
Kern United Methodist Church members will be taking orders for the November menu at the church from 3-5 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Monday; 6-8 p.m. Wednesday; 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Nov. 6; and Nov. 7 at 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon. Cash and food stamps will be accepted. Prepayment is required. Food will be distributed on Nov. 20 at Kern
United Methodist Church.

For $25, the November menu includes (4) 5 oz. beef ribeye steaks, (4) 8 oz. hamburger steaks, (4) 6 oz. pork chops, 1 Chef Boy-Ardee Complete Deep Dish Meal, (1) 3lb. breaded frying chicken, (1) 12 oz. Oscar Meyer Beef & Cheese Bologna, 3 lb. Russet Potatoes, 16 oz. peas and carrots, 16 oz. corn-on-the-cob, 16 oz. cut broccoli, 16 oz. cut okra, dozen eggs, one dessert, 16 oz. rice, 1 Hamburger Helper and 7.5 oz. biscuit mix. Three specials will be offered during November.

For more information, call Kern United Methodist Church at 483-5273.

Airplane crash..

An airplane was about to crash.

There were 5passengers on board, but only 4 parachutes.

The first passenger said, "I am George Steinbrenner, the megamillionaire owner of the New York Yankees. I am about to go hire and fire people until I am guaranteed a team to win the World Series every year for the rest of my life. I can't afford to die." So he took the first pack and left the plane.

The second passenger, Antonin Scalia, said, "I am the a Supreme Court Justice and a potential Chief Justice. And I am the only person in American history smart enough to interpret the intentions of the all white, all male, all Christian framers of the Constitution, so America's conservatives don't want me to die." He took the second pack and jumped out of the plane.

The third passenger, President Bush, said, "I am going to be re-elected for President." So he grabbed the pack next to him and jumped.

The fourth passenger, John Kerry, said to the fifth passenger, a 10-year-old schoolgirl, "I have lived a full life, and served my country well; I will sacrifice my life and let you have the last parachute."

The girl said, "That's okay. There's a parachute left for you, Mr. Kerry. President Bush took my schoolbag."

Mason Dixon Tournament

January 26-29 2005, Tennessee School for the Deaf will be hosting Girls Basketball Mason Dixon Tournament and NC School for the Deaf will be hosting Boys Basketball Mason Dixon Tournament..

I am considering attending one of those school to support all schools and to see old friends and make new ones! :)

13 years of marriage

On Oct 26th, Bucky and I celebrated our 13th anniversary..

It just seem that time has spinned so fast and it seem so unrealistic to be actually married this long.

In 13 years of marriage, we have gotten so many furnitures that it is really overcrowding our house comparing to our first apartment being so bare and with so few furnitures.

We have gone through different cars, trucks and one van.

We have moved different places throughout the years and getting ready to stay and settle in our new house for years to come.

We have overcome some rocky roads and some smooth sailing learning about each other and changing ourselves to do better.

We have gone through health crisises and stood by each other.

We brought three kids to the world and going through the hoops being parents..

I wouldnt trade our marriage for anything as it has been a thrill ride and will continue to do so..

Bucky, I love you very much and Thank you for being there and walk through the years with me. We do have many more years to walk through..

Hedy,

Hedy,

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to Dear Hedy! Happy Birthday to you!

Hope you are having time of your life as you go on an journey to be a year older! :)

Smiling, Mary

Events coming up!

Hello everyone, I'm back again! :)

I had been sick with my leg being swelled up for unknown reasons and I have a Ct Scan scheduled for Nov 8th and hopefully it will help diagnose the reason why I'm having so much problems at this point..

OH Boy! Just few more days, Halloween's around the corner then it won't be long before my sister, Sandy and my birthdays andThanksgiving comes along then Christmas! I LOVE those holidays but hate the hectic among the holidays..

My Granny will celebrate her 82nd birthday on Sunday the 31st.. We are having family get together for the Birthday dinner.. It will be 13 days to my birthday and 14 days to my sister Sandy's birthday. I will not be home for my birthday so I hope Bucky and I can get to do something special on my birthday as it has been pretty long time since we were able to do something without the kids!

We are also waiting patiently for our house to be completely ready for us to move in before one of the holidays, we hope! They are working on storm drainage then hooking gas services up to the house, installing HVAC and grading the land to be able to install ramp then we will be ready to start living in Oak Ridge!

Past and present

I was sitting today watching TV and out of blue, I was thinking about me in past and present.. I could see how much different I am from the past and how I am now..

I looked over to Bucky and gazed at him for a bit.. He has changed throughout the years.. I still do love him very much.. He and I have changed throughout the years with things popping up in our lives, children and facts of life but my heart still have love for him..

When I was 16 years old, I had an dream- graduating high school, go to Gallaudet to graduate and I wanted to live in New York City, New York, have a job and hang out with friends etc.. I didn't really thought much about having kids but would liked to have them.

Well my dream didn't come the way I wanted it to go but I got the best part, a husband and three children.. Looking back, I wouldn't trade them for Gallaudet, life in New York etc.. I feel I am in better place and I am able to have my feet set firmly on the ground and have realistic ideas about our future. Living in slow pace place gives me the chance to really enjoy my children and my life with Bucky. It makes me appreciate everything I have. There's no need to hurry through the life.

I really think I have been seasoned over the time.. I will be 32 years old in few weeks so I guess I'm reflecting the years :)

Kids say cute things

Tonite (the 14th) Ryan had cutest thing he said..

Daddy (Bucky) told the kids it was their bedtime. Ryan told Daddy to stop pick on him.

He came to me to see if I would be his ally..

He said, " Daddy's picking on me"

I said, Why is Daddy picking on you?

He said Daddy's picking on me..

I said Well, It's your bedtime.. You better go bed..

He said NO you picking on me now!

LOL I figured that Daddy was telling him it was his bedtime and he didn't want to go bed.. He was hoping I would be his ally to stay up.. Unfortunately for him Bucky and I was on same page! LOL!! It was one of the cute things he said!

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Tangela! Happy 32nd birthday! :)

19 days to election

19 days to election..

It's getting crazy. Signs pops up on yards.. buttons pinned on shirts.. bumper stickers plastered to bumpers.. Media going crazy on TV..

Everyone has their rights to vote for who they feels will serve the country best. I know who I am going to vote for!

May the best man win!

would like to be

After reading Ridor's blog and there was blog about having out of human's body experience.. It made me think of what I would like to be..

I think I would love to be Bald Head Eagle because of freedom of flying high and being so amazing, I also would love to be killer whale being able to swim through the ocean and being big fish in the sea. On the ground, I would love to be a horse running through the fields with no care or worries.

I also would love to be the highest mountain ever outlooking the beautiful view of earth.. it also would be wonderful to be beach waves where I would overlap the sand playing tag.

I see that I want to be so many things but as for now, I'm happy I'm Mary Carver :)

After Death...

I often wondered after hearing someone had passed away, how does it feel to be dead?, where do they go after their heart stopped beating?, Do they feel cold inside? Do they see other souls?
Do they look down and watch us or walk among us? Do their life flash before their eyes? Do they go into other forms like animals or something after their death?

I am not afraid to die, when my time comes it's just my time to go. I just hope that my family knows I love them very much and not let a day go by without my telling them I love them.

Common senses/ Courtesy

Is it so hard to grasp the concept of using the common senses?

Is it so hard to be able to use the concept of courtesy?

A marriage recently nearly fizzled because common senses were not used, courtesy was not used.

I wish more people would use their judgement of using common senses and courtesy in more things than being so impaired in their judgements..

I guess I will never know!

The day at the beach!

Years ago, Bucky and I were living in Jacksonville North Carolina with Justin when he was a little 10 month old baby.. My parents and Sandy came to visit us and we went out to the beach.

My Dad was leading us to whereever he wanted to stay at the beach front. We were lugging towels, stuffs and Justin.. Sandy was getting grumpy with Dad (what's new about that?) Dad was up front of us, Bucky was carrying Justin and walking with Dad. Sandy, Mom and I was walking alongside each other talking..

We were talking in turns and it was "Sandy's turn" to talk so we turned to her to see what she has to say in response and realized she was nowhere with us. We looked around and found her halfway in the ground with one leg in the earth. Dad and Bucky had turned around to check on us and to see where we thought we wanted to sit and saw that Sandy had fell. The beach sand had a hole that Sandy walked in and had one leg went through and another leg didn't go in. It was scary moment because she had surgery years ago when she was little girl to put pins to hold her bones in place (That's another story) and we were afraid that she might hurt herself again. But when we knew she was alright, we started to laugh because it was pretty funny looking.

It didn't make anything better with Sandy and Dad, It just made Sandy fuming mad with Dad. When we finally got a place to settle, Dad and Bucky took Justin swimming in the waves. Mom, Sandy and I sat down and chatted. Sandy seem to be occupied with something so Mom and I went on and chatted. We finally realized that she was filling up Daddy's shoes with sand. When Dad came back from the water, he became angry with Sandy for filling his shoes with sand.. OH BOY! what a fun filled day that we had that day laughing at both of them! BUT that was not all!

When we were done at the beach, we packed up and walked back to our station wagon we had that time. We loaded up the car and got in the car but couldn't go nowhere.. Bucky had parked the car in the sand and when we tried to back up, it just spin sand! Finally, he was able to get out of the "parking lot" and we went home!

It was real fun but that was the last time I was actually relaxing at the beach! :( It has been 13 years ago! I miss the view of the beach! The winds of the beach! the smell of saltwater! the waves of the ocean! BUT I don't miss the SAND!!!! LOL! I did came for short glimpses of beaches throughout the years but only could stay about 5 minutes.. That's not enough!

Ridor's Dad and Mom

Welcome Home to Ridor's Dad (Billy).. He had been in hospital and had just returned home.. Hope he made a full recovery and continue to take care of his health!

Happy Birthday to Ridor's Mom (Deanna).. It's her birthday! One more month to Ridor's birthday!

Boo Hoo I'm sick..

Oct 6th, I started to feel real sick and in a lot of pain coming from my left leg. I was shaking with coldness and piling up blankets on me trying to warm up but my temp was over 101.

Oct 7th, I woke up with my left leg swelled up and very red. I had refused to go to hospital or to doctor because I knew I had cellulitis again. But I felt this was the worst eposide I ever had. I tried to hung in there as long as I could to see if it would go away but by 4 pm, I gave up. Bucky, Dad, Mom and Sandy had won.. I said OK, I'm going to the doctor. By 4:30 pm, I was in doctor's office.. By 5:45, I was in physican plaza at a Vascular specialist having ultrasound trying to see if I had blood clot in my leg. Thank goodness I didn't have it.

It was just cellulitis so I have real bad case of infection in my leg.. I'm taking antibotics for the infection and Hydrocone for my pains. My leg is not as red as it was but it's swelled up real bad and it's hard to walk on the leg.. :(

Nonetheless, I will bounce back!

Aunt Edith

Bucky's Great Aunt Edith McCarter passed away Oct 6th, 2004. She was 83 years old.. She will be deeply missed by all on Earth but she's reunited with her husband and children.

The family had viewing on Friday night (last night) and Bucky took Justin and Tori with him. They met a lot of family members that we had not seen in a long time. The burial was this morning..

Sleep tight, Aunt Edith..

Sorry I have not been posting

Hey everyone!

I am sorry I had not been posting.. Here's updates..

Oct 1-3 2004, We went to Taylorsville NC to visit Bucky's family and it was real good visit! I had not been to Taylorsville in a while and it was good to be able to see Mom Mom and Pop, Mom and having the time to go out and have a dinner with Bill and Tina while the kids stayed behind..

Oct 2nd, NCSD had their annual Homecoming game, We went for only an hour before leaving. We left before the game even began.. We wanted to spend more time with the family but however when we were there, we saw quite a few friends that we had not seen in long time. It was good to see them especially Terry.. Wish I could have more time with her but she was working though..

After leaving NCSD, Bucky and I went out with Bill and Tina to Captain Galley's Seafood restaurant.. I LOVE their seafood. It's champ! I had flounder, scallops, popcorn shrimps, clam strip, devil crabcake (I saved for the kids) and oysters (I gave that to Bucky) and French fries. Unfortunately I couldn't even finish 3/4 of it so I had a doggy bag and brought the remaining to give to the kids and they enjoyed it :) I don't like oysters and I can't imagine why people like it.. It's SO GROSS! Bucky LOVES it so much! I think I know why! LOL

We came home Sunday and got home safely and tired, of course!
