Another email to share..

A Soldier tells about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday, on his way home from the base.

He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the US flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly, "Yes, I always wear it and I probably always will."

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi. A gentleman standing behind the soldier stepped forward, putting his arm around his shoulders, and nodding towards the soldier, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman, "Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had YOU been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if YOU have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy YOU a ticket and pay YOUR way back to Iraq so YOU can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that YOU are obviously here in MY country to avoid."

Everyone within hearing distance cheered.

Surprise Visit

Today we had a surprise visit from David Scruggs, who has been mentioned on this blog once or twice.. His wife, Linda is being treated at Methodist Medical Center here in Oak Ridge and David decided to surprise us by visiting us..

He looks the same but looking very well.. He is still a truck driver but for different company along his wife, mainly drives on West coast routes.. He came around 5 pm and chatted till about 6:15 before he left to go back to his wife at the hospital..

I thought it was a odd thing, I was admitted at MMC and stayed on 5th floor, room 561 and Linda is being treated at MMC and is staying on 5th floor in room 547.. MMMmmmm Interesting..

Yes, Sandy saw David briefly but they didn't talk but probably a few words before Sandy headed back to her house due to her previous arrangement with a Vet who had made a home visit to check on the pets..

It was real good to see him after a long time.. Tori was thrilled to see him and she asked after David left if it was a dream or a real thing? :) It seemed like a dream that he actually showed up out of blue.. BUT we all have moved on, he has his wife and their family and Sandy has her husband and family. It was good to see him and see how he has been doing on the road.. He seems to be doing well..

David, wherever you are Thank you for stopping by..

Quilting

Hey everyone!

I'm HOME since Sunday.. The sweet doctor let me go home on Sunday after giving him my puppy look (NOT!!) SMILE.. He said I was on way to get over the strep infection in my leg.. So I have been enjoying my time at home with my boys back home from NC..

The boys has been visiting their Grandma, Mom-Mom and Pop, Uncle Bill and Aunt Tina since May 31st till June 19th when they finally came home.. That's a long time to be without the boys. I truly really do miss them so much and was so glad to have them home once again.. They have GREW!!! :( my babies!!!!

Anyway back to the topic quilting.. My Mom has begun to take up quilting and I am getting the bug wanting to do that also. I already have some ideas of what I want to do when I get the sewing machine, fabric and accessories together hopefully by next week so I can start making things for family and some friends for Christmas gifts.. Will take pictures and post it after Christmas because I don't know which family members who actually come and check the site.. I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.. :)

So far that I am aware of, We may have a group of ladies starting to get together and do some quilting time together doing their own materials.. Don't know when that will actually happen but there are a few other ladies interested so hopefully we can have good place and time to do this..

So if there is any quilters out there that would love to share with a couple of beginners, please don't hesitate to email or get in touch with us.. Thanks!

Hey from the hospital!

Happy Father's Day to you all Dads out there.

I am still in hospital since Thursday and am hoping to go home today if
possible. Bucky took Tori to NC yesterday to go to Carowinds today with
his brother Bill and his family along with Justin and Ryan, oh boy they
are excited about their trip.

Sandy or Mom will pick me up from hospital when I am discharged. I can't
wait to go home as there is no place like home. I miss my gadgets toys
such as videophone and internet.

Anyway, enjoy this day honoring all Daddy's out there today.

The email Sandy my sister sent me..

I got this email from Sandy and I wanted to share this with you all.. Thanks, Runt! :)

There are some people who always says "retarded" to many things.. I have never liked to hear that word being spoken for anything and I get aggravated when Justin says it to express his opinion or his feelings about things or person.. Saying Retarded is like saying "Deaf and Dumb" for the Deaf Community when we know there are no dumb people in Deaf Community.

Here came the email and I want to share..

Some people understand life better, and they call some of these people "retarded"...

At the Seattle Special Olympics, nine contestants, all physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash. At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash, but with a relish to run the race to the finish and win. All, that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times, and began to cry.

The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back. Then they all turned around and went back...... every one of them. One girl with Down's Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said, "This will make it better." Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line.

Everyone in the stadium stood, the cheering went on for several minutes. People who were there are still telling the story... Why?

Because deep down we know this one thing: What matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves. What matters in this life is helping others win, even if it means slowing down and changing our course.

If you pass this on, we may be able to change our hearts as well as someone else's. "A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle"
