Mom and Dad

Here's picture of my parents, Monroe and Lillian..

They met when Mom was up in Delaware visiting family on her Dad's side, she went to a Club for the deaf in Delaware and met my Dad. They wrote letters back and forth for a year while Mom was dating another guy named Butch Midgette. Dad came to the Graduation at NCSD and surprised Mom. Shortly after, he proposed marriage and she accepted. They set wedding date for September 24th 1966. They moved around quite a bit, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC, Maine, NC and lastly to Tennessee..

Dad comes from a big family.. His parents had 15 children in total but two had died while childhood so left them with 13 children to rear. Three were deaf and attending Kentucky School for the Deaf, Dad being oldest of deaf sibilings.. Dad was born on June 13, 1938 and graduated from KSD 1958. Dad worked for different places along the years working at printing jobs. He landed a job with IBM in RTP, NC until his retirement in 1991.

Mom comes from a small family, She's a only child with deaf parents. She attended VSDB for a few years before transferring to NCSD and graduated there in 1966. Mom was born on August 5th, 1946. She was housewife most of the time with a part time job being a RSC interpreter for Deaf person with an hearing interpreter then she landed a job with AIDS Hotline answering phones then was promoted to supervisior before her retirement in 1993..

They have been really wonderful to us, being there for us when we need them.. I love them dearly..
